What you should know Buddhists
Sakyamuni Buddha
Born in the garden of Lumbini under a Sal-tree when his mother, Queen Mahamaya, Devi was on his way home from their parents. The queen died a week after birth. As a prince, was named Siddhartha Gautama.
He lived from 566 to 486 BC. His teachings were transmitted orally and they were committed to writing only in the leaves wave in Sri Lanka in mid-century before of Christ. The Buddha taught over a period of forty-five years. These were three baskets or divisions called Pitaka, which are the speeches, the monastic rules, and the Abhidhamma. In all they consisted of 84 000 chapters, about 5000 of them are the discourses (suttas). It has been estimated by scholars that if all the main points of the three baskets are listed in book form, this set of books equivalent to 360 volumes of our average free today.
If a person wish to become a Buddhist initiation ceremony is not necessary. There is no need for baptism. If a person understands the Buddha's teaching, he is convinced that its teaching is the right way, and does his best to follow. Then it is a Buddhist.
The four Buddhist holy places are Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Kusinara. Lumbini is currently in Nepal, was the birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha. Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Kusinara are in India. Bodh Gaya was the place where Sakyamuni attained lighting, after he moved from one place to another in India practicing meditation for seven years. In Deer Park, Sarnath, near Benares, He took out its first instruction, (Turning the Wheel of Dharma) to the five ascetics, these speeches: Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta (Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path); and Anattalakkhana Sutta (no soul). Kusinara was the site of his final Nirvana. The Buddha said that Buddhists personally visiting these four sites to travel to higher states.
He was born as an average person. This was a good sign because it means you and I can become a Buddha. One need not be the smartest of the nation as the top 0.000001% of the population to be able to understand the Dharma to become a Buddha. If He was very intelligent, have attained Nirvana before, because as a child (7) He sat down under a rose apple tree (Bodhi Tree, Scientific Name: Ficus religiosa) watching his father perform the opening ceremony for the annual festival of work, crossed his legs and went into meditation and believed he had reached the different levels of jhana. He could have followed and successfully practiced harder and achieve enlightenment without having to spend the six years that she did later. It was said that as the child sat under the tree shade tree remained the protection of him, though the position of the sun in the sky had changed. So you see, the devas protect the good people.
As a young prince, the turning point in his life was when he saw a frog being swallowed by a snake, and at that moment, a hawk came down and took both the snake and the frog away.
How a powerful creator could allow his creatures to be devoured by others, and live in constant fear? All creatures either hunt or are hunted by others. Herbivores are also victims of other animals, including humans.
During one of its outlets, Prince Siddhartha came across a prisoner, dressed in yellow rope, holding a bowl in hand, looking very calm and perfect. Prince stopped the car and asked Channa, curiously: "What is this man?" I love to meet you. "
That approached the prince prison and said: "Prince, I am a holy man, a recluse. When you see the world full of misery, I've left, wandering in search of Truth and Peace."
The prisoners immediately retired and disappeared from view.
At night, as usual, a group of dancers came to entertain the prince. Prince Siddhartha heard and saw, but could not pay attention to them. He sat on the couch and fell asleep immediately. Artists stopped to rest. Nightfall advanced, they too were asleep.
Later that night, the prince woke up and looked around. The dancers set scattered across the ground like corpses. Some had their eyes completely closed, and some half-closed, appearing repulsive. Saliva flew from his mouth. The nose is blown. Many of them were snoring, messy carelessly with her sari. Some bit their teeth, or murmuring in their dreams. The whole scene looked more like a field cemetery.
Prince left the recovery room horse-groom Channa, and said: "Get my horse ready. I'm going out."
Prince galloped on and on, crossing the river Anoma, left her jewels, sword and clothing, hair cut, took the yellow rope and a begging bowl to enter the forest in search of Truth and Peace. Kanthaka his horse, and all other discarded items were brought back to the palace by Channa. He stayed seven days Mango Groove Anupiya near the river Anoma, and then proceeded to Rajagaha, the capital of the kingdom of Magadha, ruled by King Bimbisara. Bimbisara King personally went to see this mysterious prison and also wanted to offer half the kingdom to this inmate. The prince refused, but promised the king that when I find Truth and Peace again to visit the king.
During his quest, Siddharta received training from many teachers, the most prominent were: Asita, Alara and Uddaka, but did not find the Truth and Peace. About Uruvela, met five ascetics who practiced asceticism. Siddhartha joined them, fasting continuously for months, burning the body under the midday sun in summer and enjoy the cold winter nights and cold, submerged in water. They wore clothes very rough, and the thorns pricked in their own body to conquer the temptation to touch, thinking that could annihilate the physical and the increase of the true nature of the soul happy. Gradually reduce your intake of food every day. His body was reduced to a skeleton, and his hair all fell. The skin is reduced until it seemed a very old man.
One day, got up, however faint, could not find the Truth. It was then clear to him that asceticism was a wrong method. Then he remembered the tension sitar string that should be neither low nor high to produce the right tone. He began to take food and gradually gaining strength. The other five ascetics: Kondanna, Bhaddiya, VAPP, Mahanama and Assaji, were unhappy with him and left.
Then the prince was alone. He sat under a Bodhi tree, next to the Neranjara River (now Phalgu) to continue the meditation, with a bid for one week. A village girl, Sujata offered him a little rice milk. After this meal that followed meditate under the Bodhi tree. Mara came and tried to scare him with storms and armies of demons. There was successful. Mara then sent his three beautiful daughters to seduce him. Error occurred. Siddhartha continued to meditate and within the same night, the Great Enlightenment realized. Found ignorance is the root of all evil, and that with the cessation of ignorance, emancipation would, and one would be free of Samsara. He made the world of misery, and found twelve links called nidanas. He called them "Paticca Samuppada" which means "Dependent Origination", ie according to this, that arises. The process can be traced back and there was no beginning or first cause.
Buddhism does not teach the following:
that cultures of all without a cause
that good deeds and bad actions have no effect
there is no afterlife
there is a God almighty
that the earth was flat
The Buddha said:
"Blessed are those who earn their livelihoods without doing harm to others. "
I do not know what their god almighty was then. But it was my mother who told me that according to the Chinese, Panku. Panku even said he was inviting all the Buddhas of the universe, and that all Buddhas take orders from him.
During the time of the Buddha, one who believed deva it was the god almighty, creator and one, down to earth to challenge the Buddha. The deva Buddha wanted to kill unless he bow to Buddha. The Buddha refused, but deva invited to play a game. The loser will bow to the winner. The deva was happy to accept this game. He suggested the Buddha should find out where I was when they disappear from scratch. The deva soon disappeared, but the Buddha found. It was then that the Buddha's turn to disappear out of nowhere. The Buddha attained Nirvana. Obviously, the deva was a common being could not find him. The deva kowtow to the Buddha and left.
Another turning point in his life was caused by the following facts:
already an old man: pride in the youth left him
see a sick man: the pride of health left him
see a dead man: pride in the life let him
His most famous learned was Ananda (Buddha's cousin) and Ananda was the last of the disciples to reach Arahanthood 1250. Ananda spent much of it ready to serve guests the Buddha and the Buddha. After the death of the Great Buddha, Ananda was less busy and focused on meditation, achieving of Arahanthood while lying down. Before that, he approached three times Mahakashyapa seeking assistance to attain enlightenment, but was always rejected by Mahakashyapa. These words were Mahashyapa to Adande: "Only you can help yourself." Only then realize that Ananda had to depend on itself if I wanted to reach enlightenment. He went to a secluded place for meditation and solitary and attained enlightenment. The fact was at that time, he trusted no one and therefore no more addiction. This achievement qualified to participate in the first round of the Sangha, with the aim of resolving the issues of doctrine, and fixing the text of scripture. This meeting was held after three months, the final Nibbana Buddha, five hundred monks who were Arahants. A Arahant has perfect memory. They met at Cave Sattapanni (In Rajagaha) to recite the Dharma and the Vinaya for it to be transmitted to future generations. Buddhist teachings were memorized by these five hundred monks, each monk was responsible for a certain sections of the teachings. These monks passed on the lessons to the young monks and why we still have today Dharma.
The First Meeting of the Council, sponsored by King Ajatasatta, (carried out long before King Asoka was born) was chaired by Mahakashyapa, with 499 Arahants to resolve issues of doctrine and set the text of Scripture, to recite and memorize, in Satiapanni Cave, located outside Rajagaha, three months after the Pari-Nirvana of Buddha. Ananda Arahant reached on that day, before the meetng started and was qualified to attend that meeting. With their presence, there were five hundred monks. Thus, the Tripitaka was recorded and has studied and practiced today.
The 2nd Meeting of Council was held aa 100 years later, in Vesali to review the findings of the first meeting.
The 3rd Meeting of Council was held in Pataliputta, 200 years later, in 253 a. C., under the patronage of King Asoka, to finalize the conclusions of the Second Meeting. This third session of the Board attended by a thousand monks, the main objective was to rid the Sangha of the corruption and bogus monks who had heretical views.
Later, from 444 up to 100 A. C., because of hunger and schisms in the Sangha, it was necessary to preserve the Buddhist religion. Vattagamani King convened the 4th Council where 500 monks reciting the Buddha's teachings and wrote on palm leaves, for first time. Written records were named the Pali Tipitaka (Pali Canon).
Manjusri was brighter of the disciples of 1250 but was not the first to reach Arahanthood. A person can not attain Nirvana by the academic or intellectual reasoning.
Cula-panthaka was not able to memorize a verse Pali consisting of four stanzas with eleven characters in each, and forty-four characters together, despite having spent four months trying. However, more Later, the Buddha told him to contemplate on a piece of white cloth, maceration or pinched by reciting "pit-haranam, haranam pit," which means "carry by dust, so the dust. "cula-panthaka became a Arahant in one morning.
The Buddha never claimed it was a royal road to the Nibbana. However, He taught that if a person must develop with sincerity (The Noble Eightfold Path) in the manner described, for seven days, he or she will attain full enlightenment or the state of no return. The Buddha said: "HIE-passiko" which means come and see. He did not demand blind faith, and He never condemn the teaching of his opponents as a sacrilege or heresy.
It is impossible to become a Sotapanna simply appreciating what the Buddha taught. You must be Samatha or Vipassana meditation. The beauty of religious practice is that, at least one person is not afraid at the time of death, and remains observant and self-possessed same. Even if you can not attain Nirvana after the dissolution of the body, one is directed to a happy destiny.
Anyone wishing to experience the joy of Nirvana must meet three conditions:
1) Find a professor who can give proper instruction in the art of meditation and to associate only with men integrity and wisdom.
2) Need for an intellectual understanding of the teaching, example: hear the true Dharma, because by studying and listening to the speeches that earned the right framework for understanding the experiences in meditation
3) The need to practice what is taught.
One of the disciples of Buddha was an old monk named Pottila, which was bright and had a reputation as an expert in the expansion in whatever detail the teaching of Buddha had given shortly. Despite its popularity and reputation, the Buddha called "empty" Pottila, and the truth dawned on him that he had no wisdom because he did not practice the Dharma.
Pottila sought a quiet place to meditate and realized I had to find a well qualified teacher. It was to a forest where there were thirty monks, they were all Arahants. He approached the senior monk and asked directions. This monk politely declined for fear that their technique simple, it would not be accepted by Pottila. Pottila went looking for twenty-nine other monks and asked the same thing. They all refused, except the young monk who was still doubting Pottila's sincerity. Pottila asked to cross a small stream. Pottila did. This young monk was convinced that Pottila below follow his advice. He continued: "Here is swarming with six holes and beneath the life of a lizard. Someone would have to close five of the holes, leaving only one open and then be able to easily capture the alligator. "
Pottila respectfully saluted the young monk and said: "What a great teacher you are; I understand, it is necessary to teach me anything else. "
The young monk asked him what he had understood. Pottila said: "Great Master, I understand that there are six doors of senses, I have to close five of them, and only open the door mind. This is how you want the practice. "
Pottila found a secluded place, meditating for three days and reached Arahanthood.
The Buddha was not a eternalist, nor was an annihilation, (a person who denies the survival of personality in any form after death). According to him, had only events that arise due to the above conditions. But when asked if the person was born again was the same as above, who died, Buddha said that was not the same or another person. The self, other religions appointed as the soul, jiva or atma purusa is not constant, eternal, or eternal. It is subject to change, and not last as long as eternity.
Buddhism does not totally deny the existence of a personality. Denies an identical or a permanent entity. Buddhist term for a person is santati, ie, a flow or continuity. This was not created by santati an almighty God, and had no discernible source from the past.
Anatta The Buddha did not say I meant the vacuum or nothingness. According to him, it consisted of physical and mental elements that constitute the so-called five aggregates. They are there, but there is nothing to be permanent. The five aggregates are: body, feelings, ideas, volitional activities and consciousness, which are also the same as: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body consciousness.
According to Buddhism, not correct to say: I have no car, (which is the theory annihilation). It is also wrong to say that I have one myself, (the theory eternalist). In the Sutta Alayaddupama, Buddha says, "O Bhikkhu, when neither I nor for anything that can auto is really fantastic, the speculative viewpoint: The universe is that Atman (soul) I know that after death, permanent, enduring, eternal, immutable, and I will exist as such for eternity, is not totally and completely stupid? "
The self is more difficult for us to part with. After death, when we leave the physical body, we cling to oneself. This car takes us to be reborn in various fields.
There are 31 planes of existence, and our human world is the fifth. This is the only plane in which, we humans can see the things around us with our eyes. From level 6 to level 31 are all the heavenly realms. From level 1 to 4 are the realms of the ghosts. Ghosts are only able to scare humans, but are not able to harm us physically. Otherwise, many people have died, taking into account that the ghosts can see us but we can not view. Access to the heavenly realms are 26 to reach people who perform good deeds on this earth. No god has the keys of heaven and no god decides who going and going to hell.
Buddhists believe that there are about 1000000 planetary systems in the Milky Way that life exists, and that the systems of the world are infinite in number. If science can not test there are countless other galaxies, does not mean they do not exist. Our land is 1.3 million times smaller the sun. For more information about astronomy, go to the website of the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge.
Once the Buddha was asked about the beginning of the world, said: "It is as if a man had been wounded by a poisoned arrow and when attended by a doctor said," I will not allow you to remove this arrow until you have learned the caste, age, occupation, place of birth, and the motivation of the person who hurt me. "That man die before having learned all this. In exactly the same way, anyone who should say: "I will not follow the teaching of the Blessed One until the Blessed explained all the multiform truths of the world ", that person would die before the Buddha had explained all this. "
According to the Sutta Aggañña, found in the Pali Canon, the Buddha was talking to the monk Vasettha, a former Brahmin, in the formation of the earth:
"There comes a time Vasettha when, after a long period, long, this dead world. And when this happens, beings have mostly been reborn in the realm of Radiance [as devas] and there dwell, made of mind, feeding on rapture, self-luminous, traversing the air, continuing in glory, and remain so for a long time, very long time. Also comes a time, Vasettha, when sooner or later world begins to evolve again. When this happens, people who had died since the world of Radiance usually come to life as human beings … Now then, everything had become a world of water, dark, and darkness, I do blindly. No moon nor sun appeared, no stars were seen, nor constellations, neither was night manifest nor day, neither months nor half-months, not years or seasons, neither male nor female. Beings were counted as beings only. And these creatures, Vasettha, sooner or later, after a long time, the earth with its flavors out on the water, even when a foam is formed on the surface of boiled milky rice that is cooling down, so did the earth appear. "
This is consistent with the expansion model of the universe and Big Bang. The Buddha seems to say here that the universe is expanding outward, reaches a point of stabilization and reversed its movement toward a central point resulting in its destruction, this process again to repeat ad infinitum. Throughout this process of expansion and contraction, found objects in the universe undergo periods of development and change over a long period of time, depending on the environment in which they find themselves. The Buddha goes on to say that the "beings" described in this section is attached to a planet like Earth, get reborn there, and remain there for the duration of life. As a result, change the characteristics physical and evolutionary change takes place. This is a very rough theory of evolution. The Sutta Aggañña presented as pre-existent water to the planets to Earth, the planet that forms with water and life on the water on earth. The Buddha was talking about the Earth-like planets in general, and was also how our ancestors came to this planet.
Depending on their works, a person may be reborn as a hell, an animal, a hungry spirit, a human being, a ghost scared, a sky god sensual, embodied brahma, brahma or without a body. Humans and animals have physical bodies serious, while ghosts and devas are non-physical subtle bodies. The beings in the realms of Brahma, if they have the opportunity to hear Vipassana Dharma, attain Nibbana of these realms. One example was Dhananjhani, who practiced metta to achieve the jhānas, and ended in the realm of Brahma, under the supervision of Sariputta. As advised Buddha visited Sariputta Dhananjhani, in the realm of Brahma and gave a talk to Dehananjhani Vipassana Dhamma, which reached Nirvana Brhama directly from the kingdom.
Buddhist Meditation involves no religious rites or rituals. It can be mastered by everyone except the mentally ill and drug addicts, regardless of their cultural background or religious if they are willing to make the necessary efforts. While the practice of meditation and living a virtuous life, which may appear to others as a useless person, crazy, and defeated. In fact, it's just the opposite.
When the five precepts are well established, meditation will give great results and benefits. Not There is nothing religious in relation to the five precepts:
To refrain from destroying beings
Refrain from taking things not given
Refrain from sexual misconduct
Refrain from false speech
Refrain from fermented and distilled liquors that cause intoxication and negligence
Is there any religion or person who does not agree with the five clauses? When these terms every day, protect yourself and others. Is not our planet land will then be a better place?
However, if a Buddhist meditation will strengthen your faith in religion. It is a mental discipline that eventually brings to mind its purified state. It is a vigorous form of struggle that leads to self-elevating, self-discipline, self control and self-enlightenment. It is a tonic for heart. As a mediator, you breathe in the cosmic energy and actually breathes its impurities. This will help weaken your past bad kamma, which has accumulated over countless ages the past. You must make good kamma to reverse his bad karma. No one can undo your previous bad kamma.
For those who have committed serious crimes such as murder, during the practice of meditation, can spread the thought of kindness and dedicate the merits of this action to those who have been killed in the past. It may be useful to achieve forgiveness for evil kamma would become ineffective. If victims do not forgive them and return to kill his former murderers, the murderers at least now know the former they are only paying an old debt. When the debt is paid with pleasure, the mind is not thinking about revenge, which continue to pay kammic. People with the fall of the mind of hatred into hell. When out of hell, which continue the revenge and retribution continues indefinitely and the debts will continue indefinitely. Therefore, the Buddha said:
"Hatred is not appeased by hatred but by love is hatred appeased."
Those who died while the mind was in good condition would be born in a state of happiness of existence. Those who died while the mind was in neutral state would be born as spirits seeking rebirth. Always reminded that these spirits who had made kamma, who was born in the existence appropriate to their kamma.
The Buddha never taught meditation to the laity for their ministry forty-five years. During his time, people had to work 365 days a year.
From human level, there are eight levels of spiritual realms of stocks to a meditator done with the right qualities through the practice of Vipassana meditation can experiment and verify. The kingdoms are:
Dibbakaya: immediately above the human kingdom
Rupabrahmakaya
Arupabrahmakaya
Dharmmakaya
Sotapannakaya
Sakadagamikaya
Anagamikaya: Anagamis born here. Later Arahanship achieve and live in the kingdom Arahattakaya live until their term ends
Arahattakaya
Out mediators may also experience the lower realms are four:
Asurayoni
Petayoni
Tiracchanayoni &
Niraya
Niraya consists of eight significant levels of hell. the lowest rung is the most painful. We can call them B1 B2, B8 to the lowest. The beings in hell can not die. Only losing consciousness, is awakening again and suffer the same pain of millions of human years.
Loving kindness (love carnal or not affect) is Metta in Pali. This Metta has a mystical power, and is a snake oil. A person with a pure heart can radiate that force for good, which is able to transform the tame beasts and murderers into saints. You will not believe? Why do you think insects and animals in the jungle can live in peace with the monks, side by side? The Buddhists were the first to enter the forest reserves for animals. Buddhist Metta embraces all beings, seen or unseen, the animal. Metta repels the darkness, and thus keeps evil away.
Nimitta are the lights see during meditation. These are mental signs. For most people, are beautiful lights of various colors, for example, white blue, purple, gray, yellow etc, bright orange and are sometimes unstable, vibrating or flashing and changing forms, as clouds.
Some people also see the eyes or faces vividly before his mind's eye, when her eyes closed. These are very normal and should not be attributed to them by our own security.
Please be said that these are his own creations and therefore not real. Sakyamuni Buddha said very clearly that he would not be able to return to this earth, knowing that after his time pretending sometimes seem. The next Buddha will be born as a person when Buddhism no longer exists on this earth. He practices on his own as a common being, and finally enlightenment and be able to enlighten others.
Sakyamuni Metteyya name to be like, now is in heaven Tusita. Tusita is a realm of beings who have perfected the requirements of Buddhahood, biding their time to appear in the human realm to attain enlightenment. The life span of beings in the sky is equivalent to 576 million Earth years. The devas in Paranimmitavasavati kingdom to the height of 9.216 billion years humans. In this area, the devas do not create objects for themselves, but control the objects of enjoyment developed for use by their assistants.
Beings in heaven Nimmanrati up to 2.304 billion years the earth. They have the power to create objects of sensual pleasure by thought, for what they want.
To move more professional, within the next few minutes after nimitta, perhaps within hours, days, months or years (depending on how well they have done to date) jhana themselves happen later.
As the Buddha: for an actor of jhana, four results can be expected: Stream-Winner, Once returns, not returns, or Arahant. When the mind reaches a state of absorption, which is contemplation Serena is the achievement of "jhana".
When Sakyamuni Buddha attained under the tree Bohdi, the Dharma, I found it was very difficult to understand and he was thinking of leaving the Earth at that time. Fortunately, Sahampati Brahma came down from heaven to invite the Buddha to expound the Dharma.
Quote:
"The the enlightened of the past, the future and the present time, to dispel the pain of many – they all lived, to live, and live in compliance with the noble Dharma. This is characteristic of the Buddhas. "
End quote.
Perhaps during his previous life was a desire that by the end of its birth as a man, would be an ordinary being, grow, marry and have children to show the public who do not have to shave the hair to attain Nirvana, like a pair made during the time of Buddha. Both were acrobats living around every part of India. But this incident occurred in Rajagaha, the modern name is Rajgir.
Like the Buddha came to another place nearby, people acrobats left to see the Buddha. The Buddha knew that this was causing problems Uggasena, preventing its development, as he had trained very hard in this act and nobody saw. The Buddha said Uggansena Moggallana invite to perform for the Buddha.
When Uggansena approached the Buddha, the Buddha taught for a while and told him to come down from the top of the bamboo cane, like a monk. Uggansena Arahanthood actually achieved while he was on top of the carry flip post. He went down and was admitted as a monk in the act because when a person reaches Arahanthood that person leave this world automatically within seven days unless he or she becomes a monk or nun. Because of the practices done on many previous lives, one person has accumulated enough inherent quality of intelligence and can reach Nirvana even just listen to the sutta. His wife soon was also admitted to the convent and reached Arahanthood. When a Arahant leave this world, his physical body can not be consumed by fire of the earth. The fire that consumed the physical body itself must come Arahant. There will be no waste.
The Buddha also encouraged his followers to continue making money. People have to be rich enough to give their surplus without hurting themselves. He said that all bodies must set aside one quarter of profits for rainy days (our CPF or pension fund at present), and spend another quarter of the remaining amount for the maintenance of a family, to make Dharma and invest the remaining parts to keep the business or the economy growing.
The Buddha was not a vegetarian. Buddhists do not have to be vegetarian. There was a fisherman who invited the Buddha to a meal of fish curry. The Buddha himself went to the fisherman's hut to accept the food because he wanted the poor fishermen have the opportunity receive the credit. The Buddha did not tell the fishermen to the profession despite the fact that the Buddhists have been and still are advised to refrain from killing. The Buddha also clearly duties of citizens to bear arms to defend their country.
During the time of the Buddha, had poor fishermen who use nets and boats of others. When these fishermen returned to the coast every afternoon, the boat owners would be on the coast to collect the catch for the day, and sell the fish in the local market before sunset. The fishermen were paid by the weight of the catch and all fish must be sold to the owner of the boat. In the case of fishermen before mentioned, had to hide the red fish, burying in the sand until the owner of the boat was gone.
The attitude of the Buddha in relation to fishing as a profession became clear during the following address:
Quote:
Do you see the monks fisherman, who, having sacrificed a haul of fish, is selling of fishnet stockings? I've never seen, the monks, nor have I heard of such a fisherman who, as a result of its action as a result of their lifestyle, go on an elephant or a horse in a car or vehicle, or festivals, or who lives in the abundance of great wealth. Why is this? Is it because he delights in fish wickedly slaughter or brought to the slaughter. The same applies to the butcher who kills and sells cattle or sheep or shine or a game or beasts of the forest. Is it because he delights in being viciously slaughtered or brought to the slaughter that he does not go on an elephant, nor live in abundance of riches. In fact, the monks, who delights in slaughter animals maliciously or brought to the slaughter becomes either walking in an elephant …. no one living in the abundance of great wealth. But perversely that wallows in a human being killed or brought to the slaughter – for this there will be pain and sadness for him for a long time to disintegration of the body after death, will occur in waste in Bourn Malo, in the fall, hell Niraya.
End of quote
There were cases of non-Buddhists who wish to demonstrate that their religions were superior to Buddhism, the monks deliberately questioned about how Buddhism was introduced 2600 years ago could still be valid. Noted Examples of the Buddhists of today who have to sacrifice animals. In these cases, the sacrifice is acceptable because we have to save the lives of millions of other lives. For example, if meets a man who is going to shoot another person and you kill the attacker in place do not commit evil karma of killing, because you are saving someone else. This example was given by the Buddha.
However, if a country attacks another country for selfish reason, and as a citizen joins the armed forces, in the process that kills some of perceived enemies, which creates the personal Kamma kill.
Fixed Kamma is committed speech, mind and body. The example would be a premeditated crime. Every thought, word and deed is a seed that matures over time. Each has the potential at any time to alter the future course of Kamma, doing good works. The Buddha said, personally, "If no way out, is not taught today. "
Kamma group is created when a group of people, for example, go and set fire to destroy property and living things. Kamma The result will be about the same for the future of this group. They will be burned alive in their future living and their properties will be destroyed by others.
Kamma means the fee or reward, present or future life. How can we explain the inequality in this world are unevenly distributed? Why twins identical, as the genes you inherited, enjoying the same privileges, be intellectually and morally completely different? Poverty and misery, as the results of thoughts mean and actions in past lives. The deformity is due to past bad Kamma. Human birth is due to a past good kamma. Cunda, a butcher, who lived in the vicinity of Buddha's monastery, died screaming like a pig because the pig carcasses for a living.
There are common Kamma, Kamma Kamma and collective fixed. It is the law of nature. Every good deed will result in good Kamma and every bad action will result in bad karma. No one can escape it, except Arahants Buddhas and whose shares are not created more Kamma. However, Arahants and Buddhas are not exempt from the effects of kamma effective indefinitely, for example, Arahant Moggalana was slaughtered and cut into pieces by bullies.
Kamma is not stored anywhere. As the handles are not stored in the mango tree. But when conditions are right to produce fruit kammic season. The in energy created by sentient beings do not go away until it has given its effects, or until it becomes dead. For example, when the makers become Arahants or Buddhas, and who have reached Parinibbana, whatever energy that has been automatically kammic will become defunct.
actions healthy produce good results, leading to happiness here and there. The ten virtuous actions Kammically are: generosity, morality, meditation, reverence, service, dedication of merit, rejoicing in the merits of others, hearing the doctrine with respect, the teaching of the doctrine, and correct the mistaken views of others.
negative actions can cause consequences that evil in this life or in the future, sooner or later when appropriate conditions for this maturation to take place. Therefore any action that you have made, good or bad, it is inevitable either reward you with happiness or suffering. The retributive kamma can be strengthened or weakened by the current efforts, for example, works good or bad you are doing now. The ten negative actions are: killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, slandering, harsh language, gossip, greed, ill will and wrong view.
There are three types kammic energy, one is the one that will produce immediate effects. The following is the later occurring effects. The latter is one that has undefined effects.
The five types of kamma weight are:
The creation of a schism in the Sangha.
The wounding of a Buddha.
The wound of a Arahant.
Matricide
Parricide
This definitely five acts produce their effects in later life. One example was the king Ajatasattu he reached the first stage of holiness not having committed patricide. The other example was Moggalana, who killed his own father and mother during a previous life. Moggalana was murdered by thugs despite to be a Arahant and possessed psychic powers. Moggalana sought to use his psychic power to prevent the thugs who came to kill him, not because he was scared to death. I did not want the thugs to undergo the bad karma of killing a Arahant.
King Ajatasattu Pacceka become a Buddha in the future, when you have paid your bad kamma.
Karma weight gets priority especially in the production of rebirth, closely followed the death kamma, habitual reserve kamma and kamma. All of us came in line with our karma and have to go according to our karma.
Life is energy, mental and cosmic kammic, all united. When a life ends, mental energy build another house. This body is not life. It is a house built for energy, with four cosmic elements, earth, fire, water and air. We are here because of causes and effects. Our past has given us this, but the future is in our hands. Each of the atoms of our body is composed of 90% of empty space. Therefore 90% of a natural body is composed of empty space. Will or desire, which is extremely strong during the life time becomes predominant at the time of death and post-birth conditions. This last thought of the moment has a special potential. The stream of consciousness in this house flows from the source to death and death to new birth, in accordance with natural law, until that person complies with Nibbana. These natural laws operate infallible and inexorably. The Renaissance an awareness of dying flows into another body according to their Kamma, because this life of the current is not destroyed. The driving force kammic still exists. A thought-process that determines the future existence occurs during the time of death. This last thought is called reproductive kamma. Death is only a temporary cessation of a phenomenon. As the dying person assumes another form, which is neither the same nor completely different, rebirth takes place according to the thinking of potential vibration generated when death. Kammic This force drives the flow of life, as the person comes to die bhavanga a subconscious level. From this level of life flow that keeps the kamma past, enters the new cell, forming the beginning of another life, which is when a sperm meets an egg. The fetus develops every day through four main causes: kamma, consciousness, temperature and nutrition. The past evil kamma result deformity. So if we are not born with deformities, we must stop doing evil now.
A dying person can see Kamma action it has undertaken in the course of his past life. You can remember the facts as if renewed, is doing at that very moment. This is a recurring awareness that one has experienced in the course of action. You can see the characteristic symbol of where you're bound to be reborn. This gati-nimitta (a sign or symbol), for example, fire, burning lamps, weapons, flesh, blood, etc. celestial mansions appear as clearly as any object seen in broad daylight.
This consciousness is not immutable soul. It Tanha (Annex), who leads the life processes to continue. During the conception of a being in the womb, the first consciousness that arises then is called back to link knowledge. This links the life before this life. Of course, whether an individual is unique in the structure of the cell at conception. The qualities and talents transferred from the previous life, can remain dormant or hidden in varying degrees, and are not obvious. With each new body, to begin again, which skills means that our past is not simply drop from the sky. However, when it appears right conditions, these qualities and talents will take effect. We easily and easy to learn in this life. Some good examples are musical prodigies like Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak and Richard Strauss. Other wonders include: Handel, Schubert, Chopin, Samuel Wesley and Christian Heinrich Heineken. Heineken, three years old, was able to speak French and Latin, and four years old, began studying religion and church history.
Four types of birth:
egg-born beings (Andaya)
Worm beings born (Jalabuja)
the moisture-born beings (samsedaya)
Spontaneous births (opapatika)
Birds and oviparous snakes belong the first group. The next group belongs to all human beings, some devas inhabiting the earth, and animals with conception in the mother worm. The third group includes the embryos that have moisture as a nidus for growth. The last group belongs to Petas, Devas and Brahmas. Spontaneously born beings are not visible to the physical eye, and when they die there is no waste.
span of a person's life on this planet can compare with an oil lamp that can be terminated due to any of the following:
Depletion of the wick (end of the age limit)
Oil Depletion (force expiration kammic)
Exhaustion both the wick and the oil (due to the age limit and force both kammic)
External cause and a gust of wind. (Gust of Wind: accident)
Let us assume that the wick is the life of human beings now, and that 80 years is the limit. 80 years of age, a person must be dead. However, if you had a great and powerful force kammic previous life, not dies after 80 years as a very powerful force for good kammic can cancel power last thought-process and can change the course of an event. For a person with very bad and powerful force kammic past life, death is final. The accidental deaths are comparable to the light that was extinguished by a gust of wind, and therefore is untimely death.
According to Buddhism, the sphere of light inside the human body is two fingers above the navel. It is the seat of life we call consciousness, spirit or soul. It leaves the body after death, and continues life after life, reborn in different levels depending on the destination kammic in all 31 planes of existence, until liberation is achieved following the Noble Eightfold Path, the Buddha's teaching. This consciousness (Citta in Pali, which consists of mind, heart and conscience) is zero, faceless, formless, continue the search for his true identity, which can only be done when all the attributes of perfection are developed in character, to mature into in a perfect being called Arahant or Buddha. When Buddhism speaks of the heart, which does not refer to the unit that pumps blood throughout the body.
If one is convinced that one becomes entangled in a web kammic, however it can be deciphered, a natural way to try to follow the example of Buddha or his disciples. We must admit our shortcomings and underdevelopment we prevent the realization of Truth.
When you experience disappointment, frustration, misery and suffering others in various forms, please admit it's you who creates his own destiny by thoughts, words and deeds. You are the builder of his own life, because later or early, which have begotten you will receive.
The effects of Kamma is not immutable forever as eternal suffering is alien to Buddhism. Our past actions, since time immemorial countless lives, among other factors, make the good and evil we experience now. Therefore, unfavorable exceed our target by a greater effort to do good works today.
There are three types of merit: the charity, morality and meditation. During meditation, the value is automatically because of the clear mind, as you radiate kindness and your mind does not think bad bad thoughts or intentions. Loving kindness is a snake oil. The credit arising from the practice of meditation can be transferred or shared by beings other realms, both those who are still alive and those who had died.
The merits that arise when making material offerings can only be dedicated to beings who are reborn as petas or hungry ghosts. If they are reborn as human beings, animals, hell beings, or celestial beings, can not receive the fund.
We are fortunate that not all who committed wrongdoing must be repaid. If every bad action must be paid, all cosmos would be totally deterministic and there is nothing we can do to free ourselves. The Buddha was an example of someone who did not have to wait for all his previous works bad or evil kamma itself. The same principle applies to all Arahants.
All of us possess the mental qualities necessary for the task of awakening, if we want to develop. When we succeed, we become Arahants or Buddhas. Regardless of bad Kamma still have not paid to be there Unless we seek to achieve Parinibbana. So Arahants Sakyamuni Buddha and many were injured physically, as long as they still possess human bodies.
Kulaputta Yasa of Varanasi, was the son of a wealthy merchant. When he visited the Buddha, the Buddha made him and made him a disciple. Then, four Yasa friends: Vimala, Subahu, Purnajina and Gavampati, all from wealthy families also left home and became disciples of the Buddha. Later in another fifty friends of the previous five disciples joined them, making a total of fifty-five disciples. Before these fifty-five monks had another group of five monks who were actually practicing austerities with the Buddha to be in a location near Uruvela. One was Kondanna was also the first to reach the five ascetics Arahanhood after the Buddha preached Sutta Anattalakkhana them. The Sangha was formed with these disciples sixties, all of them Arahants, led by the Buddha.
The Buddha addressed them:
"Id, Bhikkhus, and wander along for the benefit of the majority, for the welfare of the majority, in compassion for the world for good, for profit, for the welfare of gods and men. Proclaim O Bhikkhus, the doctrine glorious, preach ye a life of holiness, perfect and pure. "
The Buddha's father, King Suddhodana, sent his chief minister of a thousand men, to invite the Buddha to Kapilavatthu. These men came to Rajagaha, a capital of another kingdom, but after hearing the doctrine of the Buddha, all became and ordained monks and forgot to convey the king's invitation. One party after another was sent to invite Kapilavatthu the Buddha, all have failed to convey the message. It was similar to the tenth came that the Buddha spoke of the king's invitation Suddhodanna.
The Buddha, with all his disciples of monks, all Arahants, left for Kapilavatthu Rajagaha. When he reached the palace Kapilavatthu, the king bowed to Suddhodanana his feet with tears in his eyes. To remove the suspicion and disbelief in the minds of their relatives, the Buddha levitate in the air from the soil and produces jets of water and fire his whole body. Only after this action no uncles, aunts and other relatives that he was indeed a Buddha, because this act was invisible before and only a Buddha had the ability to do so.
Abhidhamma (Higher Doctrine)
The Buddha expounded the Abhidhamma, not in the world humans, but the assembly of the devas in heaven Tavatimsa (where life expectancy is 36 million years the earth), during its seventh annual rains retreat. He ascended Tavatimsa heaven, sitting on the stone beneath the tree Pandukkambala Paricchattka, for three months to teach Abhidhamma to the devas who had gathered from the world thousands systems. The main target was his mother, Mahamaya Devi, who was reborn there. The only reason he did not preach the Abhidhamma in the human world is required speech three months of unbroken continuity, that no human being was capable of on this planet. Devas and Brahmas could only remain in a position of this duration.
According to the Abhidhamma, there are eighty-nine classes of consciousness.
During the three months, the Buddha descended to the world of humans every day to go to almsround in northern Uttarakuru. After collecting the almsfood, went to the lakeside Anotakka have your meal. Sariputta would meet the Buddha there and get a summary of the teaching received that day in the deva world. Having learned the Dhamma, Sariputta turn taught it to his own 500 students, and therefore the textual recension of Abhidhamma was established.
It is believed that the numbers were attained Nirvana devas lager between men.
The area covered by the Buddha when he was teaching was about 250 miles from east to west and 150 kilometers from north to south, more or less modern cover Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and the Tarai of Nepal. He was able to fly in the air without help, but very few people saw it fly. He walked from place to place most of the time He approached the people and their willingness to benefit from its teachings as the following story:
An ascetic met with Buddha
An ascetic Pukkusati not a Buddhist, was traveling from one part of India to another party, in search of Buddha, who had only heard of but never met. Wine to Rajagaha. In the evening, went to a potter Bhaggava, and asked permission to spend the night in his shed. The potter agree. Later in the Buddha also came the hut, and also requested permission to spend the night in the same house. The potter has no objection provided that the walker others objected. The Buddha was offered permission to remain there for the vagabond. They do not know each other. The Buddha asked the ascetic who was his teacher. He said he had no teacher, but have heard speak of a Buddha and went to look, even if it would meet the Buddha, would not be able to recognize it. The Buddha spoke of Dhatu-Vibhanga Sutta (an analysis of property) the ascetic and the ascetic realized that the person before him was the Buddha. He immediately kowtow many times and asked permission to be admitted as a monk. The Buddha was on agreement and told the ascetic to find a robe and a bowl so I could order it. The ascetic went out the night in search of two things. Before he got them, a bull attacked him killing him instantly. But he did Arahanthood, as confirmed by the Buddha, when the other monks, who came to the hut later asked Pukkusati where the incident would result.
Kisagotami and her dead son
Kisagotami was the daughter of a rich man Savatthi, was known as Kisagotami because of its thin body. Kisagotami was married to a rich young man and a son born to them. The child died when he was just a child and Kisagotami was attacked by grief. Carrying the body of her son, she went to ask for medicine that would restore her son to life from all which she went on to comply. People began to think she was crazy. But a wise man and his condition was thought to be of some help to her. So He said the focus of the Buddha.
It was the Buddha and asked for the medicine to restore her dead son to life.
The Buddha told some mustard seeds from a house where no death had occurred. Carrying her dead child in her womb, Kisagotami went from house to house, with the request of some seeds mustard. Everyone was willing to help her, but she could not find a single house where death had not occurred. Then he realized that his was not the only family had faced death and that there were more dead than alive. As soon as he realized this, his attitude towards her dead son changed. She was no longer attached the dead body of his son.
He put the corpse in the jungle and returned to the Buddha and that he could not find the house where death had not occurred.
Then the Buddha said: "Gotami, thought you were the one who had lost a child. As you have realized, death comes to all beings, before their desires are filled death takes them. "
On hearing this, full Kisagotami impermanence, dissatisfaction and insubstantiality and aggregates Sotapanna reached.
Soon after, he became a bhikkhuni Kisagotami. One day, while she was turning on the lights he saw the flames and burning on the way out, and suddenly sees clearly the rise and passing away of beings. The Buddha, through gong power, saw from his monastery, and sent his radiance and appeared in person. Kisagotami said keep meditating on the impermanent nature of all beings and to work hard to account Nirvana.
place of women in Buddhism
Before he became Sakyamuni Buddha, the main role of women in India to care of the house according to the wishes of their husbands. Education was not important to them and were not allowed to remarry. They were told to jump into the funeral pyre of her husband. The Buddha said that both men and women use to society.
In the Buddhist family both spouses share the same responsibilities and discharge their duties with dedication equal. The husband the wife considers a friend, a comrade, a companion. The woman is a substitute for the husband when the husband becomes unable to work. One woman even is expected to present itself with the trade, business or industry involving the husband, so she would be able to manage their affairs in his absence. Did not Buddhist society shows women occupy a position of equality with the husband?
The Buddha's advice to the King of Kosala Pasenadi clearly shows that Buddhism does not consider the birth of a daughter as a disadvantage.
The Buddha confirmed that women were able to realize the truth as men. Allowed the admission of women into the Order, although it was not for it at the beginning as he thought his admission would create problems in the Sasana. Once women have shown their ability to manage their affairs in order, the Buddha recognized his skills and talents, and gave them responsible positions in the Bhikkhuni Sangha.
Dhammadinna, Khema and Uppalavanna were nuns, who managed Arahanthood and were able to preach the Dharma. Dharmadinna was pending with the ability to teach, Khema was outstanding in wisdom, and Upplavanna was outstanding in miracles. Over 500 of these bhikkhunis Arahanthood reached during the time of Buddha.
Some people who did not like The Buddha went on to say he was poisoned by Chunda. This was very unlikely because a Buddha or a Arahant could see what was in the food, like viruses could see cup of water. There was no way that a person could poison him. A Buddha can not die. However, he could be physically hurt, because his bad kamma committed eons ago has not expired. After eating the food of the Buddha became ill but recovered later. During that time he was 80 years. Naturally, he died health problems later on.
The Buddha said to Ananda to visit Cunda reality (so that Cunda would not be affected by remorse) to tell it was an act to provide a more auspicious Buddha's last meal. The Buddha said that if Cunda claimed, if you stop Ananda, saying: "This is good for you, Cunda, and the profit to you, that when the Buddha had eaten his last meal of the benefit to you and died. From the same mouth that Exalted, Cunda, I heard, your mouth wide I received this saying: These two offerings of food are fruits equal, and equal gain, and much larger fruits, and much greater benefit than any other which are the two? The food supply when a Tathagata has eaten he attains supreme and perfect vision, and offerings of food, when he took a Tathagatta dies that the complete cessation of all that is left behind – these two offerings of food are the same and the same fruit and fruit gains much higher and much higher profit than any other. It has not been established by the blacksmith Cunda a Kamma redound to the length of life, resulting in good birth, which would lead to good fortune, resulting in good reputation, which would lead to the inheritance of heaven and sovereign power. In this way, Ananda, should be checked any remorse in Cunda the blacksmith. "
The Buddha died (Pari-Nirvana attained) in a small town called Kusinara outdoor-room between two trees, surrounded by his disciples. It was erroneously reported who died of food poisoning after eating a meal of rice and mushrooms donated by a lay follower, Cunda, who was a blacksmith. In some parts of India, during the Buddha's time, it was a custom of poor people to collect mushrooms, dry them and save them for use as vehicles for the rainy season. Sometimes, these fungi became poisonous. Even today there are cases of people who die from mushroom poisoning.
The Buddha knew the food contained poison, but he did not want Cunda Cunda be offended as I had no intention of poisoning the Buddha. Fungi are very bitter, but the Buddha ate them all without saying anything, thanked Cunda and left. The Buddha later confirmed it was impossible for him to refuse food because Cunda invited the Buddha with the passion and love as no one had never done before.
Before reaching Parinibbana, Buddha asked all his disciples and lay followers if there was any point I want to. Nobody question posed. This showed that he had taught us everything we need to know to attain enlightenment. When Ananda wanted to know whether there should be a successor Buddha said that the Dharma should be the guide after he was gone.
Buddha's last words were:
"Decay is inherent all things
be sure to fight with clarity of mind for Nibbana. "
(Comillas)
After Parinibbana of Sakyamuni Buddha, many Buddhist monks do not put on clothes, pretended to be a Buddhist monk, and changed or deliberately mistranslated some of the scriptures recorded in Sanskrit. So the king Asoka, crowned in 273 BC, called the Council of the Third Meeting of the Sangha, led by the venerable Tissa Thera Moggalliputta in Pataliputta (Patna) and many other monks who were Arahants. During this meeting, the schismatic monks and nuns were expelled from the Sangha. Between 100 and 200 years after Buddha's Parinibbana, a controversy over some monastic rules had been decided by a committee of Arahants especially against the views of the majority. The largest group introduced Bodhisattua ideals, calling themselves and the Maha Sangha, which later became the Mahayana. The division into two opposing groups actually began by Devadattha that it conspired to kill the Buddha asked his followers to roll a huge stone on the head of Buddha, the Buddha was walking along a hillside cliff. The stone hit another rock and fell near the Buddha, more than a sliver of rock injured toe of the Buddha. The enmity of the schism created by Devadattha lasted many centuries. However, today we to observe all monks regardless of the sects to which they are because they are the ones who are seriously doing everything possible to get rid of greed, hatred and deceit. Its functions are to study, practice and teach the Dhamma. The monks have to follow the 227 precepts established by the Buddha. The nuns have to observe the precepts 311. Lay can see 5, 8 or 10 of these precepts.
However, this group of bogus monks would not be eradicated completely. They managed to bring out even centuries later, when the International University of Nalanda was established. Even this infiltrate university professors and lecturers. This university existed for seven centuries. And by 1193 AD, when monks from this university have been slaughtered and burned by the university Bakhtyar Muhammad and his army, ritual and magic Brahmins were already included in the curricula of the universities of Nalanda, leading to a new kind of Buddhism differ from Hinduism.
The order Bhiksuni India ceased to exist when Muhammad Bakhtyar invaded India in the 12th century. In Sri Lanka Bhiksuni order ceased to exist with the fall of Anuradhapura in 1017 CE. Order Monks suffered the same luck there, but was revived by King Vijayabahu afternoon after he expelled the Tamil invaders. King invited the monks of Burma Vijayabahu to revive the order of monks in Sri Lanka. For some reason, did not revive the Bhikkhuni (nuns) Order.
Buddhism is said to last only 5000 years. We only have 2400 years left. As we move ever closer to the Sasana, more people would come forward to destroy Buddhism. It said the number is actually increasing.
Buddhists do not have term suffering for the lighting of incense and candles, and making promises that things supposedly supernatural. One of the unique teaching of Buddhism is that moral behavior without reference to heaven and hell. Buddhism advocates a impermanence of all existing
