The construction of an area vital to the door, but need help with the implementation and design?

It has a huge patio and a very small house. I found it difficult to entertain more then 3 people at a time, do to lack of space. So I'm planning to create an outdoor living space that is completely covered and I can enjoy the natural sun in Cali, but want feedback to see if what I'm plotting is plausible. Step one, I use basic plans for a door out of standard, but is much larger. The second phase, modern twist, instead of want to be Plexiglas walls (or some else that is transparent but tough) and I'm not sure what would be my best plan of attack? I'm thinking to find plans for the insertion of windows and make it large = D. All ideas and how-to-site would be greatly appreciated.

I guess in your case I would see a screen on the deck or patio, instead of what is planning. If the door is near the ground, pour a concrete patio large. If it's more than 2 feet off the ground, build a deck. Building walls with posts and beams support the roof. Structure of large openings that can accommodate large windows, which can be opened to allow air flow. Plexiglas, or any other type of plastic, scratch badly over the years and look terrible. You can include a section that will be projected out beyond the roof rack. This will be much more practical. Hope this helps.
