When mounting a deer's skull with a piece of cardboard, do you need to clean and disinfect in the first place?
I ride my horns with the top of the skull attached and does not clean or hair that has and still stained with blood in the skull plate. Is this right for hanging in a shed or must be cleaned? The only thing left in it's skin, hair and some dried blood and its been a while since the deer was cut just ride tonight. ok, for all of you wise not your head around enough of the top plate of the skull to hold the antlers together. No brains with nothing but a small piece of skull plate. ONLY hair and skin in the upper left, but i cannot get off and go in a shed so I thought it would be nice
You have to remove all the tissue fleshy membranes and soft and then cured (salt, borax, in the sun) for its conservation. Then take a polyurethane spray and cover the exposed bone (once cured) and grill with about two layers. And make sure that polyurethane is not bright.
