Why the LTTE assassination of Rajiv Gandhi? Was it really the LTTE?

I mean, the LTTE Tamil people is composed of anti-discrimination, facing organized in Sri Lanka by the Sinhalese. What I can not understand why they would kill an Indian prime minister, as the Tamil people coming from India (Tamil Nadu). I have tried to find answers, but there is much to the confusion. India made the mistake involved in the affairs of SriLankan. You see, there is a certain affinity for the Tamils in Sri Lanka because they originate in our country. So there was pressure on the government to intervene. We sent our troops to Sri Lanka to help solve the problem between the LTTE and the Sinhalese. Big mistake. They were on unfamiliar ground and suffered so badly which had to be removed from home. In revenge for the interference, the LTTE had assassinated Rajiv Gandhi. We lost a good prime minister.
