Keep frozen lock?
I have a metal lock to ensure the closing of a door of the shed. With winter upon us in the Midwest, we had a lot of rain and frost, and I often find the lock frozen shut. I know there are commercial products to the locks on the ice, but I wondered if anyone knows of any "home" remedy to keep the lock from freezing shut. I read a suggestion that said to fill the keyhole with petroleum jelly a hot day and let it run in the door, but it will not have a day "hot" anytime soon. : (Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'd bring the blocking of a day in the interior, which is hot and dry out, then buy a lubricant meant for locks and use. It is best do not use WD-40 or anything oily. They are not as large for the locks. Once the lock is dry and lubricated, you could cut a couple of small holes in a bag ziploc and put the padlock through them and leaves him with the bag mouth down to help keep it dry. I do not think there is no home remedy that works so well as a product done to the locks. If you do not want to buy anything, just get it dry and then protect it from weather.
