openSUSE want to format a partition during installation?
I want to install SUSE Linux on my computer along with windows, and everything was fine and dandy even said something about the formatting partitions according to the previous configuration. (Step 6 here – http://en.opensuse.org/INSTALL_Local). With only the configuration default, it will erase everything on my computer? Is it going to end up with windows, because I want Linux, but not as bad. Can anyone shed some light on this because I'm quite confused, and do not want to lose years worth of information and music. I am running Windows XP on a Compaq Presario SR1510NX with 1GB of RAM (512 MB I added).
Try to partition the hard drive while in windows with a program, or if your on Vista, with Partition Manager. then for openSUSE installation, select the partition. I recommend that you label your partitions.
