Survival Tips for the disasters you, your family and your business

Disaster survival tips for you, your family and your business by Abbott Eva, the great organizer

If this is a natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina or a natural disaster as an industrial chemical explosion against the wind, what do now to protect yourself and your family can make the difference between life and death. After you survive, rebuilding your life and business quickly becomes critical.

Please do not for a moment think that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be able to reach you in time unless they have already taken these steps to protect her. Tragically, 10 days after Katrina, even after the rescue effort began, there are still people starving in New Orleans.

It can happen anywhere (in this case) and not if, that is when it will happen. Nobody can predict the future, but you can take steps now to know that you have done everything possible to prepare.

Check out these disasters Survival Tips for You and Your Family " http://www.organize.com you can use to buy himself and his family longer than his. Time is the second most important factor in surviving a disaster. Water is number one, so our first tip is:

1) Without water loses its ability to make clear decisions within 24 hours. Thirst kills you more faster than hunger. At work: Keep a backpack at work with bottled water as everything that can go. Moreover, as in nuts, cereal bars, their daily medications or vitamins and a small first aid kit. Keep a list of emergency numbers for family inside as well. At Home: Put at least enough water in sealed containers so that your family will have one gallon per day for two weeks. I just bought a size plastic packaging cases -room water bottles and stacked them in the backyard picnic table. Even if some of it is compromised you will still have other bottles intact. Exchange of water each six months – put a reminder on your calendar.

2) Create a Disaster Kit on your property outside your house and garage (in a back corner of your yard, for example). It's as easy as getting a gallon plastic trash bin lid 55 clips to hold it shut. Or use a small plastic / metal garden shed your garden.

3) Clean out your closets and put in layers of clothing and sturdy shoes for each family member. You need a complete change of dry clothes that can be sufficiently hot to sleep while dressed.

4) Clean camping equipment are not using: this is the perfect place for it. Tents, tarpaulins, Ponchos, Sleeping bags or Wool blankets (wool will keep you warm even when wet), cooking equipment, lighters, Tools, can opener and a pot boil water.

5) Make a separate sealed containers of food in it. Cans of food as complete meals are ideal. dry foods use precious water to reconstitute. headaches instant coffee keeps away the withdrawal. If you smoke, put a carton of cigarettes to prevent withdrawal sickness. Focus in foods (eg beef stew, spaghetti) and carbohydrate foods like cereal bars and dried fruit leathers for energy.

6) If you eat a protein drink (or bar) regularly, throw in a large bowl (or a pack of 12 cans / bars) and enough liquid to mix. This is a good source of concentrated food.

7) Include another plastic sealed container with all the basic medicines or vitamins that you and your family should have. Some doctors will give you double prescriptions once if you ask. Clean your bathroom cabinets and make sure to pack first aid remedies like ibuprofen, Tylenol, aspirin, bandages, antibacterial ointment, etc. You can get home emergency kits cost effective and at Costco.

8) Important: a battery radio for emergency broadcasts; ideally a CB radio or the type of coverage for Nextel phones, its list of the names of relatives, doctors and essential contact information and and local emergency numbers. Call friends / family out of state to allow updated information. local telephone access is often deactivated or destroyed during emergencies.

9) Keep a mini-disaster kit for your car (s). Always have a blanket, (eg food, energy bars) and water sealed containers. You can buy quality car emergency kits at Costco, too.

Create regular backups of your business computer systems and staff. I use Norton Ghost to image copy my entire drive in an external hard drive and store it in the trunk of my car parked in my way. Probably not will be thinking about your business in the midst of a disaster, but when you survive you have to rebuild your life and business as soon as possible.

It's more fun hassling re-create the work unit that is going broke. You can also make regular backups to remote locations on the network. I recommend my backup "Guru" Sallie Goetsch weekly electronic publication backup warning. For essential advice visit backup FileSlinger ™ blog backup (http://www.fileslinger.com/blog/)

"May you and yours are safe and well." But his family this weekend a Kits disaster anyway, right? Organizer can not stop a catastrophe, but after surviving that will help you and your family during the recovery quickly.
