Would it be weird to ask my neighbor if I can paint his shed?

We bought a fixer-upper and are planning on reselling next year, hopefully at a higher price. My plan is to have everything looking really polished and the backyard is looking really great. I am planning on painting my garage (in the backyard) with a fresh coat of white, the neighbor to one side has a wooden privacy fence, the one on the other side has an upkept garage with nice white siding and nice flower gardens, but the one to the rear has an old shed that was painted white at one time, but hasn’t been painted in a very long time. It looks really bad. I was thinking of asking them if I can put a fresh coat of white paint on the side that faces my house when I put my house on the market to make my back yard really stand out. The thing is I’ve never met these people so I have no idea who they are and what they are like. Would that be weird? I wouldn’t mind at all if someone asked me that, but I don’t know how other people would react. What do you think?

Well then, honestly if you are going to make the offer do the entire job. I would approach them and tell them flat out that your house is going on the market and you would like to offer them your services for free to paint their garage. See if they will pay for the paint, if not, suck that up too. Also you want to paint in the color that is their preference not yours.
